Backing Track Honky Tonk Fun! written & arranged by John Edwards
John’s notes; This genre is also known as ‘Rag Time’, ‘Blue Grass’ and ‘Hill Billy’ music with slight variations in ‘groove’ to distinguish each. My arrangement is reasonably quick and great practice for those that like ‘upbeat’ Country music! This style of playing became popular during the ‘Wild West’ period in America, specially in whiskey Bars that sprung up in the dry barren ‘gold prospecting’ area’s. ‘Honky Tonk’ was played mostly on old battered, upright piano’s (as often featured in Cowboy films). The music style is still very popular today and played Globally by Country Bands. Some tunes in this style involve very fast picking and take years to master. My short arrangement is a good starter for those interested in this style of playing…..Enjoy!
